What is remote desktop and how do I use it?

Remote Desktop allows you to access your OSU COE campus desktop workstation running MS Windows remotely and securely. We currently have instructions for setting up access from Windows and macOS clients, and are working on documentation for Linux.

How do I access CN services from remote?

Use the links below to access CN services from remote. MyCN is a web-based tool for accessing files on your CN-Home and CN-Share network paths (also commonly referred to as the "P" and "S" drives). VPN is not required to access MyCN from off-campus.

How do I connect to my campus Coe pc from off-campus?

There are currently two methods we recommend to connect to your campus COE PC from a remote (off-campus) location. The preferred method is to use the Engineering “Gateway”. It is the most secure method and should give the best performance, but it requires a mobile device that is pre-registered with DUO.

What is remote work?

Remote working is defined as work and transportation alternatives that substitute home-to-work commuting with the option of working at a home work site or a satellite work location while meeting the business needs of the University. Employees are considered to be remote working anytime they are not working at a University provided work site or location.

What is protected university information?

The employee will protect University information from unauthorized disclosure or damage and will comply with federal, state, and university rules, policies and procedures regarding disclosure of public and official records. Work done at the employee's remote work site is regarded as official University business. All records, documents, and correspondence, either in paper or electronic form must be safeguarded for return to the University. Release or destruction of records should be done only in accordance with statute and University policy and procedure, and with the knowledge of the employee's supervisor. Electronic/computer files are considered University records and shall be protected as such.

Does Oregon State University have a remote working policy?

Oregon State University (OSU) supports remote working where there is an operational need, or there is potential for University savings. This policy applies to all OSU employees. All employees who are remote working must have an approved Remote Working Agreement on file with University Human Resources (UHR).
