How do I access the Algonquin College Network from off campus?

The ability for employees and students in VPN approved programs to access the Algonquin College network from off campus is provided through our Virtual Private Network (VPN). Only students who are registered in a Remote Access approved course/program will have access to (VPN).

How do I login to Algonquin live?

Log in to ACSIS using your student number. Select “Network Account Info” from the left toolbar under ACCOUNT. Here you’ll find your User ID and password. On the AC Brightspace login screen you will be asked to enter your Algonquin Live email address (your User ID followed by @algonquinlive.com).

Go to our VPN self-service portal at https://selfservice.algonquincollege.com. Login using your Algonquin College username and password.

What is VPN, Remote Access and MFA?

VPN (Virtual Private Network) and Remote Access are often used interchangeably. If you have VPN/Remote Access, that means you have the ability to connect your computer to the Algonquin College Network when you are off-campus (e.g. from home).

Why do I only get prompted to use a soft token when connecting to VPN when I also have an eGrid card?

If you have both an eGrid card as well as a soft token (Entrust mobile app), the soft token takes priority by default. If you want to switch to using your eGrid card , you will need to delete your soft token.

How to download Cisco AnyConnect?

1. Click on the link below to start the download for Cisco AnyConnect. Note: if prompted, login using your full college e-mail address and network account password. Once logged in, click next to the filename and then click the download button at the top to download the file.

Can students use VPN?

Only students who are registered in a Remote Access approved course/program will have access to (VPN). Students in programs and courses which are not VPN approved, must have their Professor or Chair contact ITS to request access.

Do I always need VPN when I am off campus?

The college has several applications that you can access from any off-campus location as long as you have an internet connection. These applications include Algonquin Email, One Drive, Office 365 SharePoint, Brightspace and offsite use of Library databases.

What is the purpose of ITS' ongoing efforts to protect college information?

As part of ITS’ ongoing efforts to protect College information, it is very important that College owned computers are kept up to date with the latest operating system and security patch updates. These are automatically distributed to College owned computers that are connected to the network using the Virtual Private Networking (VPN) service.

Do faculty and staff need VPN?

Most faculty and staff services are accessible from a home Internet connection, using a web browser and/or specific software. Some services require a VPN connection. It is very important that users of corporate laptops connect to the VPN regularly to get the latest updates provided by the system administrator.
